Ebay often proves to be full of exciting finds for me, and the sources for Gimbel Script was a unique one. I tend to browse auction listings every so often looking for unique ephemera sources for lettering, and on this occasion I came across a vintage greeting card lot. There are plenty of such listings on Ebay, so no big deal there, but when I had gotten the package and was sorting through the cards, I came across this card with that unusual capital M and connected to it.
The surprise came when inside the same envelope was a vintage penmanship specimen for Upright Vertical Script. This greeting card lettering and this style of script paired so well together that it helped me flesh out the rest of the characters for Gimbel Script in a similar style to the unique card script, as well as furnish several alternate letterforms for the typeface as well.
