Have I seen the movie…? Nope. But I’ve seen the posters for the movie, and I thought the heavyweight chop style lettering for the movie title was bad ass. I’m talking about the 1957 movie, “Sayonara”, starring Marlon Brando, the source of inspiration for our Shojumaru Pro font family.
Other versions of posters for the film featured thin weight chop style lettering, and even a heavyweight condensed style, but none had a powerful appeal of the wide-stanced example that spawned our font. As for the split chop style, that was completely a stylistic spin-off of our own design.
